The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Extreme Poverty launched on October 26th, 2021. The Group exists to keep the issue of extreme poverty on the political and parliamentary agenda in the UK. Extreme poverty is currently defined as living on less than $2.15 per day, according to the World Bank.
BRAC UK is performing the role of secretariat for the group, which is chaired by
Chris Law, MP for Dundee West.
The aims of the APPG are to:
1) Provide a focal point in the UK parliament for discussion on extreme poverty.
2) To convene key stakeholders working towards the eradication of extreme poverty.
3) To provide practical recommendations for the UK Government to tackle extreme poverty.
